What Your Restlessness Is Trying to Tell You
Four Truths to Transform Restlessness into Momentum.

There’s a point in life—unmarked by age—when the questions get louder:
Is this the path I want to walk? What have I built? What am I building now?
It’s not a crisis, it’s a signal. A pull toward clarity, depth, and alignment. And while it’s tempting to look away, listening can change everything.
Last week on EVRYMAN Live, fear expert Kristen Ulmer shared a powerful insight: avoiding fear blocks our emotional flow. In her words:
“Fear is only a good thing. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s one of the best parts of life. If fear is acting irrational, it’s because you picked a fight with it.”
Ask yourself: When was the last time you named what you were feeling as “fear”?
Most of us don’t. We call it stress, anxiety, or restlessness, muting what fear is trying to tell us. But fear, seen clearly, holds wisdom. It’s not there to derail us. It’s there to direct us.
Here are four ways fear shows up and what it might be pointing to:
Unease as a Beacon
That low hum of restlessness isn’t failure—it’s feedback. It means your inner compass is alive. Research shows that midlife often brings a surge of self-awareness and a desire for meaningful change. Don’t dismiss the friction. Listen to it.
The Fear of Wasted Time
The fear of wasted time is not just stress—it’s urgency. A call to focus on what really matters. Studies show that reflecting on our lives sharpens intention. This fear doesn’t shrink life—it asks you to live it on purpose.
Disruption as a Catalyst
What feels like weakness might be your future knocking. Facing mortality often realigns us toward purpose. This kind of fear isn’t chaos—it’s the nudge to reinvent, not retreat.
The Fear of Not Being Prepared
Often disguised as self-doubt, this one invites you to trust your inner tools. Don’t wait for the perfect plan. Start with honesty. Writing for just 15 minutes a day can unlock clarity and resilience.

There’s nothing broken here. Just listen to what life is asking of you. Let fear be the doorway. This is where things get real.
Insights
The Talk You Didn’t Know You Needed (Until Now). This one’s an oldie, but a damn goodie. So good, we just watched it again. Whether you’re a fan of Scott Galloway or not (FYI he doesn’t care), set aside the time to hear real talk about men, purpose, connection, and modern masculinity. It’s equal parts brutal and brilliant—and worth your time. YouTube (1 hour, 53 minutes).
The Man Who Tracks Lions (and Might Just Help You Track Yourself). Ever heard of Boyd Varty? If you have, hit reply—we want him on EVRYMAN Live. If you haven’t, it’s time to check him out. Boyd doesn’t just track animals—he tracks truth. From lions to leopards to the lost parts of ourselves, his stories and wisdom cut deep. His words are wild, grounded, and surprisingly spiritual. Start here. Follow the tracks. They might just lead you home. Boyd Varty (2 minutes).
The EVRYMAN Podcast Is Coming Back. In case you missed it, we’re bringing back the EVRYMAN Podcast. But this isn’t another “listen to my book tour” pod. It’s raw. It’s real. It’s men telling the truth about the shit we go through: the breakdowns, the breakthroughs, and everything in between. No polish. No performance. Just stories that hit hard and heal deep. As a teaser, watch one of our members share his truth and what finally set him free. (30 minutes).
